A South Essex MP was pleased to hear about new CCTV due to be installed on one of his local high streets, this summer.
Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, heard the welcome news from Essex’s Police Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC), Roger Hirst, when the two men, supported by several local councillors, toured Wickford High Street, and discussed where the new camera’s, paid for by a special £160,000 grant, were due to be installed.
The camera system, which will be monitored 24/7 by trained operatives, will enhance the ability of Essex Police to combat crime and anti-social behaviour, in and around Wickford Town Centre.
Commenting on the visit, Mark said:
“I would like to thank our proactive PFCC. Roger Hirst, for coming to Wickford and showing myself and several local councillors where our new CCTV system, which is due to be installed this summer, is going to be located. Combatting anti-social behaviour is important to my constituents and this new, £160K system, should certainly assist our local police in doing that. The sooner this kit is installed and up and running, the better.”
