A South Essex MP visited a company in his constituency, which manufactures high quality buildings, including relocatables which were used across Essex, during the Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) crisis, a couple of years ago.
Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, was visiting the corporate headquarters of the Wernick Group at Shotgate Industrial Estate in Wickford, where he met with David Wernick, the Chairman of the company.
The Wernick Group turns over some £250 million a year and has 25 locations across the United Kingdom, including a large manufacturing facility in South Wales and the Group's corporate headquarters is in Wickford.
Mark visited the company and received a briefing on its operations from David Wernick and was then taken on a tour of Wernick Group's headquarters, during which he had an opportunity to thank the staff personally for their role in providing relocatable classrooms to a number of schools across Essex, whose main buildings had to be closed because of problems with RAAC.
Commenting after the visit, Mark Francois said:
“It was an absolute pleasure to visit the Wernick Group's headquarters and to meet their highly dedicated staff. I was also pleased to have a chance to thank the company, in person, for everything they did to help out a number of schools across Essex, including in Basildon and Billericay, to maintain face-to-face education for pupils, during the RAAC crisis. I'm very proud to have a major and successful company like the Wernick Group operating in my constituency and I wish them all the very best for the future.”
