A South Essex MP saw for himself Amazon’s busy delivery system in action, during a recent
visit to their Basildon centre.
Rayleigh & Wickford MP, Mark Francois, visited Amazon’s Delivery Centre at Christopher
Martin Road, in Basildon, which despatches door-to-door deliveries across almost the whole
of Essex.
Mark had previously visited Amazon’s massive ‘Fulfilment Centre’ at Tilbury but he followed
up with another visit, during the Parliamentary summer recess, to see the next stage in the
process, by which individual parcels and packages – everything from books to bathroom
appliances – are then delivered to households, across most of Greater Essex.
Speaking about his visit, Mark said:
“My visit to Amazon’s Basildon Delivery Centre was a real eye-opener. The sheer volume
of parcels, which are despatched in seven “waves” of delivery vans every day, 364 days a
year, is really impressive. I want to thank the over 200 Amazon employees who work at
Basildon, plus all the drivers, for everything they do to keep deliveries flowing to my
constituents and many others across Essex as well.”
