A South Essex MP turned up to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of a ‘Carer’s Cafe’ in
his constituency.
Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, joined the special commemorative event at
Rayleigh Baptist Church, where, two decades ago, a group of local carers first established
a cafe for those caring for their loved ones, to gather together and share their experiences.
The event, which was organised by the Carer’s Ministries Team, including Mr Trevor
Chaplin, was well attended and recounted the history of the cafe, which is still going strong,
twenty years on.
Speaking about his support for the initiative, Mark said:
“As I have been the local MP here for twenty-four years now, I can remember when the cafe
was first established, back in 2005. It has performed a very valuable role since then, offering
companionship and mutual support for those caring for loved ones, be they young or old. I
wish the Carers Cafe all the best for their next twenty years and beyond.”
