An Essex MP ‘got shirty’ with Cancer Research UK, when he paid a recent visit to one of
their charity shops in his constituency.
Rayleigh & Wickford MP, Mark Francois, was visiting the Cancer Research UK shop in
Rayleigh - at their invitation - and he took the opportunity to donate several casual blue
shirts, to help raise funds for the charity.
During his visit, Mark met with volunteers and management and was impressed to learn that
the shop now takes in around £3,000 a week, funds which are then put to good use in the
battle against cancer.
Speaking about his visit, Mark said:
“I would like to thank all the staff and volunteers at Cancer Research UK in Rayleigh for
giving their time to support the fight against this disease. The team there are clearly highly
motivated and run a very professional looking and popular shop. I wish them all the best for
the future.”
