A South Essex MP showed his backing for a charity ‘Garden Trail’, to raise money for the
upkeep of an iconic local church.
Rayleigh & Wickford MP, Mark Francois, joined hundreds of visitors who enjoyed an
opportunity to view local residents’ gardens, which were made open to the public for three
days, over the August Bank Holiday, to help raise funds for local charity, The Friends of
Holy Trinity Church. Mark was joined at a number of the gardens by Cllr. Marianne Vernon,
the Chairman of Rayleigh Town Council.
Mark, who also serves as President of the Friends, visited a number of gardens in and around
Rayleigh, including that of local resident Geoff Blower, in Picton Close. (Pictured).
Commenting on his support for the Garden Trail, Mark said:
“As President of the Friends, I would like to thank all of those residents and businesses who
willingly opened up their own gardens for others to enjoy over what was a lovely bank
holiday weekend. Their combined efforts will have helped to raise vital funds for the upkeep
of Rayleigh’s part twelfth century parish church, for both present and future generations to
worship and enjoy. It was a very successful event.”
