Rayleigh and Wickford MP Mark Francois, had a chance to view one of the largest solar powered roof arrays in Europe, during a recent visit to the Amazon fulfilment centre at Tilbury.

The giant facility, which covers an area the size of more than 90 football pitches, has a large web of solar panels on its extensive roof, which help to power the building below. The Tilbury centre played a key role in delivering everything from books to clothing, while people were in Lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking about his visit to Amazon, Mark said:

“The sheer scale of the Amazon facility at Tilbury is pretty impressive, as is the massive solar panel array on the roof. The staff at Tilbury worked hard to keep people supplied with important items during the Lockdown and I would like to thank them all for their efforts."
