Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, was happy to help out at the recent launch of
the new McDonald’s restaurant, on Wickford High Street.
Mark joined franchisee Shameela Patel and her two sons, plus the Mayor of Basildon, Cllr
Allan Davis, to conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony, to officially open the new McDonald’s in
late July. The event was also supported by a lively performance from Wickford-based HSD
Dance School.
Commenting on the occasion, Mark said:
“As Wickford’s MP, I was delighted to assist in the opening of this new McDonald’s. Not
only will it prove popular with my constituents, it should also help to bring people back onto
the High Street – and thus boost business for other traders in Wickford, too. I would like to
thank franchisee Shameela Patel and her family for investing in my constituency in this way.
Hopefully they might one day open a new McDonald’s in Rayleigh, too?”
