Minister supports Armed Forces Day event in Basildon

  Rayleigh and Wickford MP and Thames Gateway Minister, Mark Francois, showed his support for the Armed Forces when he attended the Basildon Borough Council Armed Forces Day event in Basildon Town Centre, on the 27th June.  

Armed Forces Minister visits historic WWI airfield in Essex

  Rayleigh and Wickford MP and Armed Forces Minister, Mark Francois recently spent a Friday afternoon visiting Stow Maries Airfield near Maldon, which is Britain’s sole remaining WWI aerodrome and which was used to help provide the defence of London in the Great War against German Zeppelins and by plane bombers. Mark was joined on his visit by the local MP, John Whittingdale OBE.  

Mark Francois MP delighted at FitzWimarc’s success in becoming an Academy

  Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, has expressed his delight at the news that FitzWimarc School in Hockley Road, Rayleigh, has now been allowed to convert to become an Academy from 1st March 2015. The decision was approved at the end of February by the Secretary of State for Education, the Rt Hon Nicky Morgan MP, and means the school can now change its status which will give greater autonomy to the Headteacher, Mr Robert Harris, and his Governors in the running and organisation of their school.  

Armed Forces Minister visits his old Regiment

  Rayleigh and Wickford MP and Armed Forces Minister, Mark Francois, who served as a TA Infantry Officer in the Cold War recently paid a visit to the Headquarters of his old Regiment in Bury St Edmunds, to see how what is now the Army Reserve is developing in the 21st Century.
